Earlier this month, we reported that Boston College men’s ice hockey alumnus, and former captain, Chris Calnan, was exploring his options to play in Europe after retiring from the ECHL. Now it is more clear where Calnan is heading.

Calnan will play in the Norwegian hockey league GET-Ligaen for the Manglerud Star, the agency 83, LLC announced Wednesday afternoon.

Calnan was an alternate captain his junior year at Boston College, and was given the captaincy for his senior year. He had played for the Adirondack Thunder, the ECHL affiliate of the NHL’s New Jersey Devils for half the season, though his time with Thunder was marred by injury. Calnan retired from the league, but sources close to Calnan confirmed that he was exploring his options to play in Europe.

Calnan was formerly selected in the third round of the 2012 NHL Draft by Chicago. He had 56 points during his time at the Heights.
