Meet The Eagles, BC Men’s Hockey Edition: Luke McInnis

Get to know #3

John Quackenbos, BC Athletics

We’re on to the sophomores! After having zero returning seniors and five returning juniors, it’s time to starting meeting the massive sophomore class of the 2017-2018 Boston College Men’s Hockey team.

Name: Luke McInnis

Number: 3

Position: Defense

Class Year: Sophomore

Background: Luke McInnis had a quiet freshman campaign, but he still managed to put up some points. His 3 goals was tops among the freshmen D and he put up a respectable 3-7—10 line. Not bad for a new guy on the blue line. His best career game came in the Hockey East quarterfinals with a 1 goal, 3 assist effort against the Catamounts at Kelley Rink on March 10th.

2017-18 Outlook: There will be more asked of the sophomores than is probably fair this year, thanks to the lack of upperclassmen. Fortunately for the Eagles, they have three experienced players in Michael Kim, Casey Fitzgerald, and grad transfer Kevin Lohan to anchor the D pairings, which will probably take some pressure off the younger guys. If Coach York opts to balance out the pairings and put one of the upperclassmen with a young guy, you could really see McInnis with anyone. If not, look for him to make a nice sophomore jump from one of the bottom pairings.

Fun Fact: Yes, Luke is the son of former Eagle and NHL star Marty McInnis.
