Boston College Basketball vs. Louisville: Final Thoughts and Predictions

The Boston College Eagles complete one of their toughest road trips of the season, taking on the Louisville Cardinals.

How Did BC Do Last Time Out?

RECAP: Virginia Spoils Barnes-Thompkins 14 Point Effort, Routs Eagles 61-47

What To Watch For

  1. How Will the Eagles Defend Damion Lee?: Lee leads the Cardinals with 17 ppg. He is a 47% shooter, 38% from the field. Put simply, he is a potent scoring threat, and the ability to shut him down will be important for the Eagles.
  2. Home Court Advantage: I realize I've beaten this point to death on this road trip, but BC, after Saturday afternoon's contest, will have played in three very difficult road arena. The KFC! Yum Center is no exception. The Cardinals are 14-1 at home, with their only loss coming against Virginia at the end of January. And oh by the way, included in that is a six point win against North Carolina. As in disputed No. 1 North Carolina. Home court isn't necessarily the reason for that result, but the confines certainly cannot be underestimated.
  3. Possible Overlook Game?: Look, I would want BC to be better before making this point, but for what it's worth, BC comes in between games against UNC and Duke for the Cardinals. With two high profile conference games between the Eagles matchup, the game might be overlooked by the Cardinals. I certainly don't expect something like that to happen, but I figured it couldn't hurt to put it on everyone's radar.

Random, Possibly Incorrect Fact from Louisville's Wikipedia Page

Louisville's Medical Hospital is often credited as sponsoring the first civilian ambulance.

Players To Watch

Damion Lee: (17.0 ppg, [leads team])

Chinanu Onuaku: (8.6 rpg (leads team))

Quentin Snider: (.596 3-point % [leads team])

Non-Alcoholic Beverage of the Game

I read Deadspin's Root Beer rankings and I saw that Whole Foods' generic brand of root beer was ranked the best root beer that was tasted. My instant reactions were that a. I need to try it, and b. there is no way that it was that good. So I went to the Whole Foods on Washington St. in Brighton, and I poured a glass immediately after I got home, and it was shockingly delicious. I have no idea what I paid for it, though knowing Whole Foods it was probably absurd, but it was worth every penny. I am no longer a hater.

Final Thoughts And Predictions

This road trip cannot end soon enough for this team. I'll say it again, this road trip came at the worst possible time.

70-55 Cardinals

Laura and New Guy split the spread bonus against Virginia since they were both the closest and had the same spread.

BC's ACC schedule is grossly unfair. They'll play about a dozen games before they find a team that's not a national powerhouse to some degree. There's something to be said when your worst opponent has been Florida State - and they're probably getting into the dance. 23.5
