Boston College Basketball vs. North Carolina: Final Thoughts and Predictions

Streeter Lecka/Getty Images

The Boston College Eagles have a huge test on the road against the No. 1 North Carolina Tar Heels.

(note: yeah, I know the AP Poll has them at No. 2. The USA Today Poll has them at No. 1. That's the one I'm using.)

How Did BC Do Last Time Out?

RECAP: Boston College Basketball Suffers Seventh Straight Loss to Seminoles 72-62

What To Watch For

  1. Offense, And Lots Of It: UNC is absolutely deadly offensively, shooting just under 50% from the field on the season (48.2%). They have four guys who will likely suit up on Saturday who have over 10 points per game. Granted, Marcus Paige has been in a slump since playing Florida State on Jan. 4, (speculation as to why might get a little bit hairy), but make no mistake. This is a very, very potent offense.
  2. On the Road Again: Just from an observer's eyes, the Eagles appear to better at home on the road. BC is on the road, in a very, very hostile environment. This will not doubt present a challenge.
  3. Turnovers: UNC is a +3.4 turnovers per game this year. Not good for a team like the Eagles who have struggled in controlling the ball in recent memory.

Random, Possibly Incorrect Fact from North Carolina's Wikipedia Page

North Carolina state law requires that UNC's freshman class be at least 82% North Carolina residents.

Players To Watch

Brice Johnson: (16.8 ppg, 10.2 rpg [leads team])

Joel Berry II: (.796 free throw %)

Nate Britt: (.373 3-point %)

Non-Alcoholic Beverage of the Game

This stuff is amazing.

Final Thoughts And Predictions

This game is coming at a really bad time. The Eagles were beginning to show some signs of getting into a semblance of a rhythm, but this game has the potential to be a backbreaker. The Eagles could surprise us, but I wouldn't count on it.

This is a friendly reminder that an 18-2 team just barely beat Virginia Tech by 5. That means Roy should have this team good and motivated. Absolutely nobody is going to stop Brice Johnson.
Laura 83-61 Heels

John "Coach" Fidler 92-62 Heels What Carolina is good at, BC struggles against (see rebounding).  What Carolina is not good at, BC doesn't do well (see shoot the 3).  The game will be uptempo and although BC may score a few more points than usual, I can conceivably see the Heels putting up 100. 19
