In front of a raucous crowd at the Petersen Events Center in Pittsburgh, the No. 20 Pittsburgh Panthers were able to outpace the Boston College Eagles 84-61. The loss marks the Eagles' fourth straight and sends them to 0-4 in conference play.
The Eagles were unable to capitalize on a season-high 31-point effort by Eli Carter.
BC was able to jump out to a 7-0 lead early on five points by Carter. The Panthers were able to respond by going on a 10-5 scoring run to tie the game at 12. A Jamel Artis layup gave the Panthers the lead at 14 points, and the Panthers would not look back from that point.
The game was marked by several periods of scoring outages by the Eagles. In an otherwise solid afternoon from the field for both teams, the scoring outages proved costly as the Panthers proved difficult to stop offensively.
The Panthers' bench shined in the game, adding 33 points to the Panthers' efforts.
The Eagles struggled on the boards against the Panthers, getting out-boarded 34-17.
The Eagles will look to snap their losing streak against Miami on Jan. 20 at Conte Forum.
