Boston College Basketball vs. Pittsburgh Panthers: Final Thoughts and Predictions

Will the Eagles get off the schnide in the Steel City?

The Boston College Eagles are on a three game losing streak and are looking for their first ACC win. The Eagles travel to the Petersen Events Center to take on the hosting Pittsburgh Panthers.

Did BC Win Last Time Out?

(All statistics are before the Panthers' matchup against Louisville Thursday night)

What To Watch For:

  1. Scoring Margin: When Pitt wins, they win big. They are winning their matchups by an average of 19.9 points per game. This can get out of hand in a hurry.
  2. Rebounding Margin: The Panthers out-rebound their opponents by 10.9 rebounds per game. For a team that struggles on the boards the way that BC does (-3.9 RPG), the Eagles might have their hands full.
  3. Stop struggling offensively: The Eagles scored 54 points and 40 points in their last two games. The offense cannot continue to sputter.
  4. Pitt is a First Half Team: Pitt has outscored opponents by 168 in the first half and 131 in the second half. Neither is a bargain, but Pitt is better in the first half.

Random, Possibly Incorrect Fact from Pittsburgh's Wikipedia Page

The Pitt School of Social Work is ranked 11th in the nation by US News in 2012.

Players To Watch

Michael Young: (leads team with 17.5 ppg, leads team with 6.8 rpg)

Jamel Artis: (16.0 ppg)

James Robinson: (10.5 ppg)

Non-Alcoholic Beverage of the Game

Strawberry Lemonade Smoothie

This springtime drink is quite frankly good at any point of the year. The sweet and tartness makes this drink one of the better smoothies out on the market.

Rating Roc the Panther

Straight up, Roc is one of the better mascots in the ACC. I base that on absolutely nothing.

10/10

Can BC Win This Game?

Probably.

Will They?

lol nope.

Final Thoughts And Predictions

This is going to be a loooooong game, isn't it?

78-52 Pitt

There's a big time book on how to beat the Eagles badly now. Shut down the passing lanes down low, guard Eli Carter, and watch BC go on a cold run. Even with mild improvement in other areas, the lack of young guys contributing meaningfully showed badly against Syracuse.

Pittsburgh is better than Cuse. Therefore - BC loses worse.

John "Coach" Fidler 82-58 Pitt This is a brutal match up for BC. Pitt can score it.  Pitt can defend.  Pitt can rebound.  The 58 points may be generous. 12
