Boston College Basketball vs. Duke Blue Devils: Final Thoughts and Predictions

Eagles look to upset defending national champions

Well. It's here.

Twenty-eight and a half hours from the publication of this article, the Boston College Eagles will play one of the most anticipated games of the season. The Eagles will host the Duke Blue Devils in a Saturday matinee at Conte Forum.

Did BC Win Last Time Out?

What To Watch For:

  1. Catch Me If You Can: Duke has absolutely dominated offensively this season, outscoring opponents by an average of 18.7 points per game. To emphasize, that's per game. Duke has only scored less than 80 three times this season, and BC is not Kentucky, VCU or Utah. BC is absolutely going to have its hands full defending against an offense this prolific.
  2. On the Rebound: I mean, there isn't a whole lot that this Duke team isn't good at doing. Rebounding is just one of those things Duke dominates other teams in, out rebounding by 8.2 boards on average.
  3. Krzyzewskiville North: Duke's only two losses this year came at neutral sites. Cameron Indoor Stadium's home court advantage is well known, and the fact that the game is at Conte is certainly a break for the young Eagles, who haven't played in front of a big, raucous crowd all year. With that said, with the students gone, and with attention to the program on the lower end, it isn't unreasonable for Duke fans to acquire tickets to the game, thus taking away Conte's home court advantage.

Random, Possibly Incorrect Fact from Duke's Wikipedia Page

Louis Issac Jaffe, a Pulitzer Prize winner, attended Duke when it was still referred to by its original name, Trinity.

Players To Watch

Grayson Allen: (leads team with 20.8 ppg)

Brandon Ingram: (5.8 rpg, 15.7 ppg)

Amile Jefferson (leads team with 10.3 rpg)

Non-Alcoholic Beverage of the Game

I'm writing this on New Year's Eve, and man I'm tired. I'm going to get to midnight and all, but I can use some caffeine.

This feels like a problem, what with me being a college student and all. I'm in the prime of my life, I should be able to stay up as long as necessary whenever I need to. This feels like a letdown.

Maybe I need to reevaluate my life, and find more time for sleep. Sleep is nice. zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.

Oh, I'm sorry.

Anyway, Iced Coffee. Great with vanilla flavoring.

Can BC Win This Game?

Probably not.

Young Man Yelling At A Cloud

(inspired by The SImpsons)

The Cleveland Circle Chipotle opened up recently, and I for one am upset. For a Chipotle hater such as myself, I was happy to see Chipotle closed. Yeah, Chipotle brings happiness to a large group of people, but I am a soulless post-teenager immune to any emotion.

Come at me Chipotle lovers.

What I don't get is this: when the student body comes back in mid-January for the spring semester, despite poisoning multiple BC students, Chipotle will be as packed as it was before the norovirus outbreak. I don't get it. This isn't the first time Chipotle has got in trouble with health issues. Chipotle HQ is taking measures to improve health conditions, and I have confidence in Chipotle making this right. With that said, why would anyone want to go back? Is Chipotle really that good to some people to be willing to bring back those awful memories? I don't get it. I really don't get it.

Final Thoughts And Predictions

The game plan is simple. Stop Jerome Robinson. That'll force Eli Carter to play hero ball....and Duke will likely wind up with A LOT of transition points.

Laura gets a much needed five points for picking the spread exactly right.

Duke top 10 in the country in scoring, offensive rebounding and free throws made and taken per game. BC below #250 in all three categories.
