The 10th ranked Notre Dame Fighting Irish cruised to an 87-70 victory over Boston College on Saturday afternoon. Here are the videos to prove it.
Six Notre Dame players score in double figures, lead by Bonzie Colson's 16 points off the bench. The Irish shot a blistering 66 percent from the floor in the game, including 75 percent in the second half. A big reason for the Irish's hot shooting was the difference of points in the paint. Forty eight of Notre Dame's 87 points came very close to the basket. Notre Dame's offense is good, but not that good. BC's interior defense simply didn't show up to play.
Aaron Brown led the Eagles with 22 points in the loss.
You can see very clear examples of BC's defensive breakdowns in these top three Notre Dame plays.
On the first, Clifford gets caught on a high screen and can't switch back to Auguste in time for the easy dunk. On the second, Batten and the other four Eagles simply don't box out, and on the third, Batten gets beat on a back screen and doesn't get any help on an easy Jackson alley-oop dunk.
After the game, Notre Dame's Bonzie Colson talked to Bobby Cremins about his homecoming and team-high 16 points off the bench.
Notre Dame coach Mike Brey talked about the Irish's balanced scoring and strong performance from his bench players.
Next up for the Eagles is a Tuesday night tilt at Pittsburgh to face the Panthers. Pitt knocked off Syracuse 65-61 earlier on Saturday. Here are the highlights:
