Boston College Basketball 500/1 To Win 2014 National Championship

So you're saying there's a chance?

USA TODAY Sports

The early 2013-14 college basketball lines are out courtesy of Bovada and VegasInsider.com and your Boston College Eagles are, not surprisingly, a longshot to cut down the nets in Arlington next season. Boston College currently has 500-1 odds to win next year's National Championship.

So you're saying there's a chance?

Expectations will run high for the Eagles in 2013-14. Many feel that Donahue should have this team in contention for an NCAA Tournament berth in his fourth year on the Heights (and third with this roster of talent). BC only loses one contributor from last year's squad (Andrew Van Nest, 10.9 mpg, 3.2 ppg) while adding Notre Dame transfer Alex Dragicevich and a pair of freshmen in guard Darryl Hicks and forward Garland Owens.

Kentucky is the early favorite to take home the title in 2014 according to both sites. The Wildcats are 5-1 favorites to win it all next season.

The defending champ Louisville Cardinals and future #goacc members are a 17-2 favorite. The Cards chances at becoming the first back-to-back champ since 1991-92 Duke are bolstered by the return of guard Russ Smith and Luke Hancock.

Duke (14-1) and North Carolina (16-1) are among the favorites to win next year's title, natch, while our old new rivals, the Syracuse Orange, are a 25-1 favorite to win it all.

Other lines of note:

-- Connecticut is listed at 33-1. The Huskies are eligible to participate this year?
-- N.C. State and Pittsburgh are both 50-1, which is fitting, because I can't think of a current ACC member with more PITT in them than N.C. State.
-- Virginia is 66-1, while Florida State and Notre Dame are 75-1.
-- Last year's ACC champs Miami are a 100-1 longshot to win it all. Ouch. This is what happens when your entire roster turns over AND you are not a name-brand basketball program.
-- Georgia Tech and Harvard have the same odds to win it all, going off at 200-1. An Ivy League program winning an NCAA National Championship in a men's sport lol ok.
-- Maryland is also 200-1. Save your money.
-- Clemson, Virginia Tech and Wake Forest are all 250-1 to win the title next year. WTF. Sucker bets.
-- BC shares the same odds to win it all as the only major conference program never to have made the NCAA Tournament. So that's a thing.
