Boston College's Lonnie Jackson To Miss Opener With Hamstring Injury

Lonnie Jackson to miss opener.

Mark L. Baer-US PRESSWIRE

It looks like both Boston College and Providence will be playing shorthanded tomorrow night.

Boston College guard Lonnie Jackson will miss Friday's opener at Providence due to a hamstring injury, Donahue told CBSSports.com this morning. The 6-foot-4 guard is one of five players to have appeared in all 33 games last season, making 19 starts. Jackson averaged 8.7 points, 2.7 rebounds and 1.9 assists per game while averaging 29.3 minutes per game last season. Lonnie is also the Eagles' second best three-point shooter statistically (behind Hanlan), so the team is going to have to rely on guys like Heckmann, Dragicevich and Owens to pace BC's barrage of shots from beyond the arc.

Providence will also be playing shorthanded tomorrow. Coach Ed Cooley has suspended Brandon Austin and Rodney Bullock indefinitely for "not upholding their responsibilities as student-athletes." Friars starting PG Kris Dunn is also day to day with a shoulder injury suffered in an exhibition game vs. Rhode Island College.
