-- Florida State owns the head-to-head tiebreaker over the Terrapins, winning the regular season series 2-0.
-- Georgia Tech's win over Miami puts the Jackets ahead of the Eagles.
-- Clemson owns the tiebreaker over Wake Forest, winning the only meeting between the two programs this year.

Boston College can finish anywhere between the no. 8 and no. 10 seeds. Let's take a look at the possible first round opponents. There are five games left which will decide BC's first round draw:

-- N.C. State @ Florida State
-- Maryland @ Virginia
-- Georgia Tech @ Boston College, obvi
-- Clemson @ Miami
-- Virginia Tech @ Wake Forest

Here are the various scenarios:

BC vs. GT NCSU vs. FSU UMD vs. UVA CU vs. UM VT vs. WFU BC Seed Opponent
BC NCSU UMD CU VT 8 Clemson
BC NCSU UMD CU WFU 8 Clemson
BC NCSU UMD UM VT 8 Georgia Tech
BC NCSU UMD UM WFU 8 Georgia Tech
BC NCSU UVA CU VT 8 Clemson
BC NCSU UVA CU WFU 8 Clemson
BC NCSU UVA UM VT 8 Georgia Tech
BC NCSU UVA UM WFU 8 Georgia Tech
BC FSU UMD CU VT 8 Clemson
BC FSU UMD CU WFU 8 Clemson
BC FSU UMD UM VT 8 Georgia Tech
BC FSU UMD UM WFU 8 Georgia Tech
BC FSU UVA CU VT 8 Clemson
BC FSU UVA CU WFU 8 Clemson
BC FSU UVA UM VT 8 Georgia Tech
BC FSU UVA UM WFU 8 Georgia Tech
GT NCSU UMD CU VT 9 Georgia Tech
GT NCSU UMD CU WFU 9 Georgia Tech
GT NCSU UMD UM VT 9 Georgia Tech
GT NCSU UMD UM WFU 10 Florida State

GT FSU UMD UM WFU 10 Maryland
GT FSU UVA CU VT 9 Georgia Tech
GT FSU UVA CU WFU 9 Georgia Tech
GT FSU UVA UM VT 9 Georgia Tech
GT FSU UVA UM WFU 10 Maryland

Or in short form:

If Boston College beats Georgia Tech ...

-- Eight different scenarios have the Eagles facing Clemson
-- Eight different scenarios have the Eagles facing Georgia Tech

If Georgia Tech beats Boston College ...

-- 12 different scenarios have the Eagles facing Georgia Tech
-- Two different scenarios have the Eagles facing Florida State
-- Two different scenarios have the Eagles facing Maryland

A third Boston College-Wake Forest matchup in the first round of the ACC Tournament is now mathematically eliminated. So BC-Georgia Tech the sequel in a little under a week?
