Boston College got their second piece of big news this week as 2016 North Carolina point guard Kyran Bowman verbally committed to the Eagles:
Just want to announce that I have committed to Boston College pic.twitter.com/uGQXtWbXON
— Kyran Bowman (@JumpmanBowman) March 31, 2016
Bowman was recently seen on campus this weekend on a visit with the Eagles, and he could have been the good news that Eric Hoffses was alluding to earlier today. Bowman is a great get for the Eagles, he was formally committed to UNC to play football, but decided on playing basketball. He received offers from Cincinnati, Memphis, California, Depaul, Rutgers, Tulsa, and Buffalo.
Bowman fits a big need for BC as they now have two legitimate point guards they can groom moving forward. Ty Graves being the other PG. He is also the third NC player on the team recruited by Jim Christian, joining Graves and sophomore Jerome Robinson.
Also, Bowman grabbed a nickname in his AAU league, "The first 48". Check out the reasonings:
"I was thinking about Kyran's body count for the summer and the name just came to me," Williams said. "A lot of people don't know this because Kyran is new and not as hyped as other players, but he had more than 10 legitimate bodies this summer. Every time he dunks, it's on somebody. I never expect to turn on The First 48 and not see someone catch a body. After this summer I have the expectancy of Kyran; obviously we're talking in the basketball sense."
Our basketball writers will break down this commitment shortly. You can see his highlight film and interview below. Welcome to the Heights Kyran!
