Boston College Basketball Recruiting: 2016 PG Ty Graves Commits To The Eagles

Jim Christian and the Eagles are on the board in 2016!

Winslow Townson-USA TODAY Sports

Boston College coach Jim Christian is on the board in 2016, securing a verbal commitment from 5-foot-11 point guard Ty Graves. Graves took to Twitter to make his announcement.

The Greensboro, N.C. native recently transferred to Montverde Academy in Florida. Graves chooses the Eagles over claimed offers from Virginia, Virginia Tech, Kansas State and Rutgers, as well as "heavy interest from Miami and Notre Dame."

Christian's addition of former Maryland assistant Scott Spinelli was instrumental in landing the 2016 point guard.

"The campus is beautiful, the facilities are great. [He liked] the academics, they have their own law school, the coaching staff. Coach Scott Spinelli started recruiting Ty at Maryland. He was at Maryland with Coach [Mark] Turgeon. When he got the job at BC for the first year, he just never stopped recruiting Ty. He came to see us in Vegas. He came to see us in Myrtle Beach, he came to see us in Pittsburgh, he was just always there.

"Not only was he there, he brought [coach] Jim Christian in. Jim Christian saw Ty play and it was a no- brainer. He said, ‘I like that kid.'"

Graves is a three-star commit per Rivals247Sports and ESPN and ranks as the 121st best played in the 2016 class per Rivals. With shooting guards Matt Milon and Jerome Robinson already in the fold, the staff has done a good job of reloading the Eagles backcourt with talented guards for the post-Hanlan era.
