Atlanta, GA prospect and four-star rated recruit Shawntrez Davis will take an official visit with Boston College in late April, per a report by 247Sports' Zack Spears.
Davis is currently ranked #123 in the 247Sports Composite rankings and is a 6'8" power forward out of Lagrange Sound Doctrine Academy.
Called a "rebounding machine" by ESPN's Recruiting Nation (subscription required), he has a good combination of length and strength. He is listed with a strength in shot blocking, a potential big boost for the BC defense. In need of help on the scoring side of things, he would provide much needed strength in the low block in order to go to the elite level.
Per the report from Spears, Davis was offered back in February by BC assistant coach Preston Murphy. With most of the ACC games on television and several games close to his home area of Atlanta, Boston College offers Davis a good mix of opportunities for his family to watch him play. The Eagles are currently recruiting Davis against a host of schools from the southeastern United States, including Auburn, Tennessee, Florida, and Maryland. In conference, Florida State and Georgia Tech are looking to seal him down.
You have to think BC could really use Davis, not only for obvious reasons in the post (where they struggled this past year, especially on the boards), but because he is a 2015 recruit, he could come in and have an instant impact with the Eagles. With Matt Milon and AJ Turner coming into the backcourt, Davis could instantly team with Idy Diallo to form a powerful frontcourt. Combine the possible return of rising senior Olivier Hanlan, and all of a sudden, Boston College starts to look like a contender in its second year under Christian.
