Boston College Basketball Recruiting: PF Idrissa Diallo To Visit Boston College On May 8

The Los Angeles big man will visit Boston College on May 8-9. He's tall.

While Boston College awaits word on whether they've won the Jared Terrell sweepstakes, first year coach Jim Christian will host another key recruiting target over the weekend.

The 6-foot-11, 225 power forward from Cathedral High School in Los Angeles originally committed to Cal last November, but reopened his commitment last month. Cal coach Cuonzo Martin hadn't even been introduced at his introductory press conference before news broke that the Golden Bears landed 7-foot-1 center Kingsley Okoroh, a former Tennessee commit. With Okoroh following Martin from Knoxville to Berkeley, Diallo reopened his commitment that same day.

Diallo hasn't completely ruled out a return to Berkeley to play for first-year coach Cuonzo Martin, though it was rumored that Martin retaining assistant coach Gregg Gottlieb was critical to landing the Los Angeles big man. Martin has instead opted to hire his former Tennessee staff.

Prior to committing to Cal, Diallo also claimed offers from Colorado, Oregon, UNLV, UCLA, USC and Virginia Tech. Georgetown and Oregon are also taking a look at the 6-foot-11 power forward.

A three-star recruit, Diallo is ranked as the 128th best play in the 2014 class by Rivals; 159th according to 247Sports. Did I mention he is 6-foot-11?

The prospects of adding both Diallo and Terrell to the incoming freshman class may be just the shot in the arm Christian needs to get the Boston College basketball program back on track. Maybe even sooner than anticipated.
