Boston College Basketball: Forward Idy Diallo Suffers Torn Meniscus

Freshman seven-footer out for tonight's opener vs. UNH.

Not exactly the way you want to start the season...

According to a report by Jack Stedman of The Heights, freshman forward Idy Diallo has suffered a torn meniscus and will miss tonight's opener against New Hampshire.

The severity of the injury is still being determined.

A 6-foot-11, 225-pound power forward from Cathedral High School in Los Angeles, Diallo originally committed to Cal last year but reopened his commitment back in May. Prior to committing to Cal, Diallo also claimed offers from Colorado, Oregon, UNLV, UCLA, USC and Virginia Tech.

Diallo finished with 6 points, 8 rebounds and a block in 14 minutes in Boston College's 92-53 exhibition win over AIC. Without Diallo, Jim Christian will turn to (a healthy) Dennis Clifford, Will Magarity and Eddie Odio to play the majority of the minutes in the Eagles' front court. Diallo joins Darryl Hicks (second knee surgery) and Lonnie Jackson (day-to-day, deep calf strain) on the Eagles' injury list.

I think BC is gonna surprise some teams this year, but this news makes you realize that the limited success the Eagles will have this season is largely dependent on the ability to stay healthy throughout the year. Just isn't a lot of depth on the roster inherited by Christian.
