Boston College basketball started practice earlier this month and believe it or not, the college hoops season is only about a month away.
On Friday, CBS Sports analysts published their picks for the ACC and all are in agreement that Duke, North Carolina, Virginia and Louisville are the class of the conference this year. Duke and Carolina run 1-2 this year because of course they do...followed by ACC newcomer Louisville and Virginia to round out the top four.
The rest of the predictions are seemingly all over the place. Just one team was picked to finish in the same place by all six CBS Sports' college basketball prognosticators. Yep. You guessed it.
Sigh.
Here is the blurb on Boston College from Chip Patterson:
Can new head coach Jim Christian lead the Eagles out of the ACC cellar after three-straight losing seasons? It will take some time to bring in new bodies after the departure of Ryan Anderson and Joe Rahon, but the hire of assistant Scott Spinelli should help on the recruiting trail. There's a large senior class, including guard Lonnie Jackson and big man Dennis Clifford, that can provide support to Olivier Hanlan, still one of the most productive wing players in the ACC.
Again, I still think the media is overstating the impact of the departures of Ryan Anderson and Joe Rahon. Christian brought in some dece replacements and have to think coaching will be improved this season idk.
Also, in a minor upset (to me, anyway), North Carolina's Marcus Paige (17.5 ppg), Notre Dame's Jerian Grant (19.0 in only 12 games) and Virginia's Malcolm Brogdon (12.7) are CBS's selections for the All-ACC Team at guard over Olivier Hanlan. Hanlan, the ACC's leading returning scorer, averaged 18.5 ppg last year. The junior guard finishing third in the conference behind only T.J. Warren and Jabari Parker.
Whatever. Gotta sell newspaper subscriptions or something.
