Boston College football coach Steve Addazio has suspended sophomore QB/WR Troy Flutie pending the results of an investigation into his arrest for operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol.
A statement from Boston College says the following:
Troy has been suspended from the football team by Coach Steve Addazio pending further investigation and faces the possibility of additional University sanctions pending the outcome of the court proceedings.
The MetroWest Daily News reported on Monday that Flutie was arrested following a crash on Saturday. He was reportedly charged with operating a vehicle under the influence of liquor, possession of an open container of liquor while driving, and being a person younger than 21 in possession of liquor.
The 20-year old Flutie, who is the son of former Boston College wide receiver Darren Flutie and the nephew of former quarterback and Heisman Trophy winner Doug Flutie, started intermittently at quarterback for the Eagles last year after matriculating from Natick High School. Flutie played in eight games last year but was converted to wide receiver during spring practice this year.
