Boston College Baseball Clinches First ACC Series Win Over Miami In Walk-Off Fashion

Now 8-35, 2-21 ACC!

via bceagles.com

The Boston College baseball team not only notched its first ACC win of the season on Friday. The program followed that up by clinching its first ACC series win of the season on Sunday in heroic fashion. Senior Matt Paré launched one over the right-field fence in the bottom of the 11th to give the Eagles a 3-2 win over Miami on Sunday afternoon. The shot was Paré's first-ever career walk-off HR. Yahtzee!

With the win on Sunday, the Eagles took two-of-three from Miami to improve to 8-35, 2-21 ACC on the year.

You'll probably hear a thing or two about how disastrous these losses were for Miami, but all the credit to the embattled Boston College program for winning on Friday and following that you by taking the series on Sunday. There is plenty of work to do with this program, but for one weekend, BC came out on top. Winning, obviously, is better than losing.

The 5-0 loss on Saturday officially eliminated the Eagles from qualifying for this year's ACC Baseball Championship, so BC's remaining ACC series against Virginia Tech and Maryland are for nothing more than pride at this point. Boston College can play the role of spoiler by eliminating both the Hokies and Terrapins from qualifying for the ACC Baseball Championship with wins over the next two weekend series.

Here are Chris Shaw, Matt Paré and John Gorman after the series-clinching victory:

The Eagles will play Harvard in the consolation game of the Beanpot today at Fenway Park at 2 p.m.* Tickets are $10 and all proceeds go to the Pete Frates #3 Fund.

* The baseball team should not shower, shave or switch uniforms the rest of the year. This could get awkward.
