Grant Salzano jumped at the chance to cover women's & men's ice hockey for BC Interruption in 2011. After over 12 years of full-time coverage, Grant has finally stepped back into a semi-retired contributing author role at BCI.
A 2010 graduate of Boston College, he immediately found himself in the front row of the student section at men's hockey games as a freshman and has been dedicated to the program ever since. He could often be found attempting to sneak his pocket trumpet into opponents' arenas, and once infiltrated the basement of the Whittemore Center before a game to try to steal that stupid fish UNH throws on the ice. Grant considers Boston College's 2010 Men's Hockey National Championship during his senior year to be the single greatest thing in sports to have ever happened.
His love of BC Men's Hockey is surpassed only by his love for the women's program. Grant and his college roommate, Joe Gravellese, attended a game at Providence College their freshman year and rarely missed a game after Allie Thunstrom punched a Friar in the face that fateful afternoon. He is proud to have once taken a 36 hour Greyhound bus trip to Minneapolis to watch women's hockey. A BC Women's Hockey National Championship is the only thing Grant wants in this world, and the Eagles' loss to Amanda Kessel & the Gophers in the 2016 National Championship while 40-0-0 plunged his universe into eternal darkness and despair. As such, he is constantly reminded that we are all insignificant bits organic matter floating aimlessly on a speck of dust awaiting the slow but inevitable heat death of the infinite reaches of the cosmos. Go Eagles.
Like all BC alumni, Grant also loves BC football, and is happy to watch BC basketball but only until the fouls start happening. He is also a private pilot based out of Chester (KSNC) Airport in Connecticut, is a dual Italian citizen, and is a two-time Wheel of Fortune champion.
Grant and his wife Alexandria reside in Madison, CT.
