The honors continue to pile up for Andre Williams. The Boston College senior running back was named to the Sporting News All-America team on Friday morning, making BC's 2,102-yard rusher two for two when it comes to All-America first-team honors recognized by the NCAA.
"His 2,000-yard season (2,102 yards) is more remarkable considering he was the only consistent threat on the BC offense. In other words, everyone knew it was coming -- and no one could stop it."
With Walter Camp first-team All-American honors already under his belt, Williams needs to be named to just one more All-America team -- either the American Football Coaches Association, Associated Press or Football Writers Association of America -- to be named a consensus All-American.
Interestingly, Williams is joined by fellow Heisman Trophy finalist Tre Mason of Auburn as the other running back on the Sporting News All-America Team. You'll recall that Mason was left off the first AND second team Walter Camp All-American teams in favor of Williams, Arizona's Ka'Deem Carey, Washington's Bishop Sankey and Colorado State's Kapri Bibbs.
From the ACC, Williams is joined by Florida State QB Jameis Winston (also named Sporting News player of the year), Florida State OL Cameron Irving, Pittsburgh DT Aaron Donald, Clemson DE Vic Beasley and Florida State CB Lamarcus Joyner on the Sporting News All-American team.
