ACC Men's Basketball Tournament Opening Round Pairings Set

Boston College vs. Georgia Tech and Wake Forest vs. Virginia Tech will open the ACC Tournament on Tuesday in Greensboro.

Brett Davis-USA TODAY Sports

With Miami dismantling Virginia Tech in the regular season finale, the field is now set for the opening round of the ACC Tournament in Greensboro, North Carolina.

Boston College (11-18, 3-14 ACC) has earned the 12 seed and will face 13-seeded Georgia Tech (12-18, 3-15 ACC) in the opening game of the ACC Tournament (1 p.m., ESPN 2 / ACC Network). The winner will face either Louisville or North Carolina, depending on the outcome of tonight's Virginia-Louisville and Duke-North Carolina games.

Wake Forest (13-17, 5-12 ACC) will face Virginia Tech (10-21, 2-16 ACC) in the 11 vs. 14 matchup at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday.

The Eagles won the only meeting between the two programs, 64-62, back on January 25. This will be the third straight season that Boston College and Georgia Tech will square off in the opening round of the ACC Tournament, which has to be some sort of record.

Georgia Tech will be without star swingman Marcus Georges-Hunt, who will miss the ACC Tournament with a broken foot. The junior is averaging 13.6 points and 5.5 rebounds a game—the only Georgia Tech player averaging double figures this season. Due to an odd number of teams (thanks, Notre Dame!), Georgia Tech the only ACC team idle this weekend so the Yellow Jackets will be well rested for Tuesday's BC-Tech matchup.
