Boys, tonight we're gonna play basketball. You know how I know? Because it's Wednesday. And Wednesday night of the ACC Tournament is the night that we usually play basketball.

ACC tournament preview: Four contenders emerge after drama-laden season (The Dagger)
Projected champ: North Carolina. In a league where any of the top four teams are capable of winning the tournament, why not pick the hottest team? The Tar Heels had won 12 in a row before dropping their regular season finale at Duke last Saturday. Luckily for North Carolina, the ACC tournament isn't played at Cameron Indoor Stadium and the Blue Devils are on the other side of the bracket anyway.

2014 conference tournament preview: Atlantic Coast Conference (ESPN)
Syracuse needs to halt its slide and rebuild its confidence heading into the NCAA tournament. After a 25-0 start, the Orange have stumbled down the stretch, including losses to cellar-dwellers Boston College and Georgia Tech. Injuries to an already-thin rotation haven’t helped, but they are hopeful sophomore forward Jerami Grant can return to form after battling back issues since the loss to Duke on Feb. 22.

UNCERTAIN FUTURES: The ACC tournament will be the last chance for bubble teams like Clemson, N.C. State, Maryland and Florida State to make a case to be in the NCAA tournament. There's also uncertainty over whether this will be the final stop for fourth-year Wake Forest coach Jeff Bzdelik, who has struggled to turn around the Demon Deacons. "I'm not going to talk about anything regarding my job," Bzdelik said Tuesday. "Let's talk about the basketball game."

Hanlan points way (Boston Herald)
"The unusual part was he missed his first two shots and he didn’t have a basket six minutes into the game," recalled BC coach Steve Donahue. "Then he goes off for eight straight 3’s and the amazing thing about the 41 is he did it on 3-point shots. "I thought we executed really well and he was ready to shoot. But it’s become a distant memory."

Hanlan averaged 24.5 points, 4.5 assists and 1.5 steals in two games last week. He recorded 20 points, four assists and two steals in BC's home finale against Florida State. He then scored 29 points at NC State while dishing out five assists. He was 10-for-17 from the floor and 7-for-8 from the foul line in that game. Hanlan was recently named to the All-ACC Third Team and the USBWA All-District Team.

Spring practice is underway at Boston College. The Eagles held one practice just before spring break, then returned to the field Tuesday to resume workouts. I had a chance to catch up with veteran center Andy Gallik after practice to talk about goals for this upcoming season and how the Eagles are going to answer questions at running back and quarterback.
