So, yeah. Even though Mississippi State and Michigan State were both idle this week, the committee bumped Mississippi State up three spots to #7, one spot ahead of Michigan State (#8). The committee must have liked what it saw from the Bulldogs over the weekend.
That means no Citrus Bowl for the ACC.

With the Bulldogs jumping Sparty in the final College Football Rankings, Mississippi State will face Georgia Tech in this year's Orange Bowl.
This throws a serious wrench in the rest of the ACC's bowl lineup. Thanks, selection committee!
Now the conference has just nine bowl tie-ins for 10 bowl-eligible teams, including Notre Dame. One of Clemson (9-3) and Louisville (9-3) is now out for Orlando and will land in one of the ACC's "Tier I" bowls. That bumps one Tier I eligible team down a notch as well as one Tier II team completely out of the ACC's bowl lineup.
Basically everything you thought you knew heading into selection Sunday just went out the window. Your guess is as good as mine at this point, but here goes:
Russell Athletic: Clemson Tigers (9-3)
Music City: Louisville Cardinals (9-3)
Belk: Notre Dame Fighting Irish (7-5)
Sun: Duke Blue Devils (9-3)
Pinstripe: Boston College Eagles (9-3)
Military: N.C. State Wolfpack (7-5)
Independence: Miami Hurricanes (6-6)
Quick Lane: Virginia Tech Hokies (6-6)
BITCOIN: Pittsburgh Panthers (6-6)
Pray: North Carolina Tar Heels (6-6)
Hold onto your butts.
