Veteran defensive back Elijah Jones has announced he’ll be entering the NFL Draft.

The Harlem native has had a solid career at BC, showing improvement each season. He started his first three games in Steve Addazio’s final season, and only grew from there. By his redshirt junior year in 2021 he was starting nearly every game leading to an All-ACC Honorable mention in 2022. This year was his most productive, logging game-changing and some clinching interceptions. Before he was announced out for the season due to a personal issue, Jones was doing his best to hold together a young secondary. After one of his two dual interception games, Hafley was heard lauding his accomplishments and how he has entered the discussion as a second or third day pick in the draft. The Eagles would not win another game without him. Even without those last few games, his season culminated in a First Team All-ACC selection. He finishes his collegiate career with 7 interceptions, 36 passes defended, and 156 tackles.

In transfer portal news, defensive back and redshirt freshman CJ Clinkscales announced his intention to transfer. Clinkscales started 4 games. Earlier this week, junior receiver Jaden Williams entered. And of course as expected quarterback Emmett Morehead will be taking his talents elsewhere.

Best of luck to all! Hafley and co are making noise in the portal themselves with such a small recruiting class coming into the fray. In his current seat, Hafley needs to have guys be immediate contributors and so the portal is the answer.
