This selection Sunday, after Florida State was left out of the CFP in a shocking turn of events, the remainder of the 2023 bowl games were selected. Boston College football, after scraping together 6 wins this season, has been invited to the Fenway Bowl to face off against the SMU Mustangs. The game will be played on Thursday December 28th at 11am ET in Boston, MA.

SMU is coming into this game fresh off of beating Tulane in the AAC Championship Game to cap off an 11-2 season. The Mustangs only lost to Oklahoma and TCU in their final season before they join the ACC next year.

BC ended their regular season on a cold streak, losing three straight to Virginia Tech, Pitt, and Miami to drop from 6-3 to 6-6. The Eagles’ aspirations of reaching that 8 win threshold have been snuffed out by this point, but they’ll still at least get the opportunity to end the 2023 campaign on a good note. A bit of positive energy is desperately needed, seeing as BC recruits have been dropping like flies and players have only just started entering the transfer portal. Jeff Hafley and his staff will be hard at work with the extra practices to try to get this team back in shape before they enter a long and challenging offseason.
