Recap: Colorado State Hands Boston College Men’s Basketball Their First Loss, 86-74

NCAA Basketball: Hall of Fame Classic-Boston College at Colorado State William Purnell-USA TODAY Sports

On Wednesday afternoon, the Boston College Eagles men’s basketball team faced off against the Colorado State Rams in the first round of the Hall of Fame Classic in Kansas City, Missouri. Both teams came into the contest as undefeated, 4-0 squads, but the Rams were the ones who continued their winning streak with an 86-74 victory.

After some back-and-forth to start the game, Colorado State jumped out to a small lead early in the first half and never relinquished it. Led by senior guard Isaiah Stevens, CSU was able to spread the ball around for an efficient offense that worked extremely well in the paint and in transition. BC’s defense was effective at times, limiting scoring and bringing the deficit down to as few as 4 points, but all five Rams starters finished the game with double-digit scoring as they found ways to penetrate.

Quinten Post led BC in scoring with 22 points, but he struggled to remain efficient and his teammates couldn’t match the volume that the Rams put out. Both teams stayed competitive for most of the game, but the Eagles’ slow start ended up dooming them.

BC will face the loser of Creighton & Loyola-Chicago tomorrow.
