Yesterday, Boston College hosted the Missouri Tigers in the great commonwealth of Massachusetts in what was a fantastic football game that saw multiple lead changes and a crazy finish. The performance of BC’s ground game was impressive, especially the blocking performance of the offensive line, but the one who capitalized the most was RB Patrick Garwo III. Garwo racked up an incredible 175 rushing yards and 2 TDs as the Eagles’ feature back.
One of the most dominant parts of the game was the 3rd quarter. BC got the ball to start the second half and just kept feeding Garwo, who was blasting through the Tigers’ defense repeatedly. After a very long 6:40 drive, he punched it in for a TD. BC would shortly get the ball back from an interception, and Garwo proceeded once again to demoralize Mizzou’s D and run it up the gut unabashedly. After another 7:05, the Eagles settled for a field goal to stretch their lead to 10 points. Mizzou had the ball for just 1:15 in the 3rd quarter, while BC had it for 13:45, in large part to Garwo’s efforts on the ground behind BC’s incredible OL. A truly dominant quarter.
This is Patrick Garwo III’s second Player of the Week honors, and do not be surprised to see him again and again as the season progresses.
