There appear to be several spots available in BC’s forward group for the upcoming season, and one of the new faces that will be trying to earn a spot in the lineup is the first freshman we’re looking at in our countdown, Matt Argentina.
Name: Matthew Argentina
Hometown: Philadelphia, PA
Previous Stats: Argentina played the last two seasons with the Waterloo Black Hawks in the USHL, scoring 12 goals and adding 18 assists for 30 points over a combined 90 games in that time. He took his fair share of penalties as well, racking up 87 penalty minutes last season, up from 75 the year before.
Season Outlook: Argentina may have a shot at getting some playing time at the bottom of the roster this season, but his lack of consistent scoring probably limits his ability to be used as more than a fourth liner. We’ll see if he can crack the lineup from day one or if he spends some time watching before he gets some game action.
Draft Status: Argentina went undrafted in the 2021 NHL Entry Draft
Fun Fact: Despite not posting great numbers for Waterloo, Argentina did flash some scoring ability at the 2019 U-17 Five Nations Tournament, where he lead the US with two goals and six assists in just four games.
