The first Eagle has been selected in the 2021 NHL Entry Draft! Incoming freshman Aiden Hreschuk has been drafted 94th overall by the Carolina Hurricanes. This is a bit lower than many analysts had him projected.

Hreschuk joins BC alumnus David Cotton in the Hurricanes organization.

Hreschuk is a 5’11 defenseman out of Long Beach, California. He has spent the past 2 seasons with the USNTDP. He was an alternate captain for Team USA during last year’s World Junior Championship.

Hreschuk is a defensive defenseman, but he also has the ability to set up plays and has racked up his fair share of assists. He had 31 assists in 50 games for the U.S. National U18 Team last year, and 14 assists in 23 games for the USNTDP Juniors.

Hreschuk plays a fairly physical game, so spending some time in the NCAA working with strength and conditioning coaches will be valuable development for him.

Congrats to this future Eagle and Hurricane!
