The Boston College men’s hockey schedule will come in to focus in the coming months, and thanks to releases by NCHC schools, we already know two of BC’s significant non-conference matchups.
The Eagles will host Colorado College on Friday, October 22, before hosting the Denver Pioneers on Saturday, October 23 - a big early nonconference weekend for the Eagles, who return to out-of-conference play after a year of only Hockey East games. These will also be two of the more intriguing games for season ticket holders as fans return to Kelley Rink.
BC has played Denver regularly through the years, most recently a two-game set at Denver in October of 2019 that saw BC drop two games in a row - part of their early season slump before getting hot for most of the rest of the season.
BC hosted Colorado College in October of 2016, winning 4-1.
CC went 4-17-2 last season and is undergoing an overhaul, with Kris Mayotte, former assistant at Michigan and Providence, coming in as their new head coach.
Denver had a “down” year by their standards in 2020-21, going 10-13-1 in a loaded NCHC, making the conference semifinal before losing to North Dakota in OT. They will be a big early test for a new-look BC team.
The only other confirmed games we know about for BC next season are the IceBreaker - hosted by Holy Cross on October 8 & 9, where the Eagles will face Holy Cross and Quinnipiac - and the Beanpot, which returns February 7 & 14. BC plays Northeastern in the first round of the Beanpot this coming season.
