The BC Interruption 2021 awards continue to party on today with the Fan-Favorite Male Athlete Award going to BC Football’s Zay Flowers! Flowers had a terrific sophomore campaign with new head coach Jeff Hafley (who likes to pass much more than his predecessor) and his new QB gunslinger buddy Phil Jurkovec. Over 11 games, Flowers caught 56 passes for 892 yards and 9 TDs, not to mention his 41 yards and 1 TD rushing the ball. He led the newly-exciting offense in both receiving yards and TDs.
BC Football fans everywhere had a blast this season watching a completely revamped offense sling the ball downfield like they haven’t seen in years, and Zay Flowers was the star of the show. Former head coach Steve Addazio was very much a disciple of the Ground-And-Pound football philosophy, which could end up producing great stars like RB AJ Dillon or OL Chris Lindstrom, but it was starving Boston College fans of a dynamic offense in an era where airing out the ball has become much more common. New head coach Jeff Hafley took that old philosophy and threw it out the window in the most exciting way possible. In the process, he made a star out of Zay Flowers as he caught some crazy passes and plenty of exciting touchdowns...

Flowers beat out his football teammates Hunter Long and Phil Jurkovec for this award, which speaks to just how exciting this football offense has become, as well as young hockey stars Matt Boldy, Alex Newhook, and Spencer Knight.
