Continuing along with our annual BC Interruption awards, our male Rookie of the Year is BC Men’s Hockey freshman Nikita Nesterenko! Also receiving votes this year was BC Men’s Basketball’s DeMarr Langford Jr.

A Minnesota Wild draft pick in 2019, Nesterenko burst onto the men’s hockey team this year with a five point streak to start the season, scoring his first goal against UMass in his second college game. He went on to have at least two points in five of his games this year, his first multipoint effort occurring against Providence in his fourth career game.

A key player on BC’s second line, Nesterenko finished the year with 19 points (8 goals, 11 assists) in 24 games. Additionally, he led all Hockey East freshmen in goals, assists, and points during the regular season, earning him Hockey East Co-Rookie of the Year honors.

We are excited to watch Nesterenko build on such a successful rookie season in the coming years!
