UPDATE, 6:30 PM: According to UNC’s website, the BC-UNC semifinal will be Friday, May 28 at 12:00 PM ET, on ESPNU. Mark your calendar!
If Boston College women’s lacrosse is to advance to their fourth consecutive national championship game, they’re going to have to go through this year’s all-conquering superteam in the semifinal, first.
#1 UNC survived a scare from Stony Brook, 14-11, in their quarterfinal, to maintain their undefeated record and advance to the Final Four.
Syracuse and Northwestern will contest the other national semifinal, with three ACC teams and all of the nation’s top-4 advancing to the Final Four.
Recent games between BC and North Carolina have been memorable.
The Tar Heels shellacked BC 21-9 in the regular season matchup between the two teams back on March 6 - the Eagles’ ACC opener.
In 2019, BC and North Carolina played epic postseason games against one another in back to back months, with BC falling to UNC 15-13 in the ACC championship game before BC turned the tables in a wild, 15-14 double overtime win at the national semifinal.
The Final Four starts on Friday, with the National Championship game taking place Sunday at noon, at Johnny Unitas Stadium on the campus of Towson University in Towson, MD. Tickets are available here.
The semifinal games will take place at 12 and 2 on Friday on ESPNU (the exact timing of each matchup has yet to be determined). The national championship game on Sunday will also be broadcast on ESPNU.
