Second Half Surge Leads Boston College Women’s Lacrosse to Victory Against #8 Duke

The Boston College lacrosse team picked up another win today in an extremely evenly matched game against Duke. The Eagles are now 7-1 overall, with their only defeat coming to #1 UNC.

Duke jumped out to an early 1-0 lead early in today’s game, but Cara Urbank tied things up just a minute later. The teams continued to trade goals throughout the first, and Duke took a 9-8 lead into halftime despite getting outshot 20-13. Charlotte North scored 4 of BC’s first half goals after a quiet outing against Louisville last Sunday.

Jenn Medjid and Cara Urbank started out the second half strong for the Eagles, scoring 2 goals each and giving BC a 12-9 lead. Duke answers with a pair of goals, but Cara Urbank and Caitlynn Mossman scored the next two points to regain BC’s 3 goal lead. The teams swapped goals for the remainder of the half, with neither team going on any sort of run. Ultimately, BC won this one by a 2 goal margin of 17-15.

Charlotte North (6 goals) and Cara Urbank (4 goals) led on offense for BC today, helped out by junior Caitlynn Mossman’s 1 goal and 3 assists. North also led the Eagles with 7 draw control wins, while sophomore Hollie Schleicher won 6.
