Boston College Lacrosse Overcomes Slow Start to Win First Round ACC Tournament Game

The Eagles will face Syracuse on Friday

Boston College lacrosse is heading to the next round of the ACC Tournament! The Eagles defeated Virginia by a score of 16-12 tonight to advance, and they will face Syracuse on Friday. The Eagles and the Orange met just last week for a pair of games, with each team winning 1.

UVA had a strong start to today’s game, dominating early play and shutting BC down on defense. The Eagles did score first, with a bounce-in goal from Charlotte North, but Virginia quickly scored 3 straight to go up 3-1.

The Eagles didn’t let that small lead bother them, and they went on to score 6 straight goals and hold Virginia scoreless for 18 minutes. BC went into halftime up 9-5, and while Virginia got as close as 1 goal in the second, the Eagles kept their lead for the remainder of the game.

Caitlynn Mossman, Charlotte North, and Cassidy Weeks all picked up hat tricks for BC today, and Cara Urbank added a pair of goals. The Eagles’ remaining goals came from Belle Smith, Jenn Medjid, Courtney Weeks, Annie Walsh, and this amazing goal from Annabelle Hasselbeck:
