Boston College baseball’s week so far:
-Finish off a series win over Duke
-Get into the national top 25 at #18
-Have their weekend series at Wake Forest canceled due to COVID-19 issues at Wake
-Slap together some schedule adjustments
-Pick up a win over Rhode Island 6-4 on Wednesday in their rescheduled home opener.
Now, BC will prepare to head to Auburn for a three-game set against a top 25, SEC foe.
The Eagles take on the #25 Tigers Friday at 4, Saturday at 2, and Sunday at 1, with Sunday’s game streaming on SEC Network+. This will be yet another key early test for BC against a quality opponent, and a chance to further bolster their tournament resume.
Another key factor in putting together a tournament resume is winning mid-week bullpen games, and BC did just that on Wednesday, storming back from a 3-0 first inning deficit to beat URI.
Joey Ryan (2-0) picked up the victory in relief, throwing two scoreless innings. Sal Frelick led the way with 3 hits and 2 RBI for BC, while Luke Gold and Dante Baldelli continued their hot starts to the season at the plate, each going 2-for-4.
BC’s trip to Auburn this weekend will be their first matchup with the Tigers since a loss in 2010. If BC comes home from SEC country with another series win, they could continue their ascent up the rankings, and continue generating buzz both locally and nationally.
