After a nail-bitingly close 14-13 victory against #16 Louisville on Friday, Boston College came out ready to fight against the Cardinals today. The Eagles won today’s game by a score of 18-3, including holding Louisville scoreless for about 53 minutes.
The Eagles jumped out to an early 2-0 lead with goals from Courtney Weeks and Belle Smith, but Louisville answered with 2 goals of their own to tie things up. Unfortunately for the Cardinals, the Eagles then went on to score 16 straight goals and did not allow Louisville to score again until there were just 17 seconds remaining in the game.
The Eagles had 24 shots on goal today while limiting Louisville to just 11. BC starting goalie Rachel Hall made 6 saves, and Abbey Ngai stopped 2 shots when she entered the game late. The Eagles were also very dominant on draw controls, winning 16 to Louisville’s 7. Charlotte North won 13 draw controls, more than the entire Louisville team combined.
Jenn Medjid was the offensive standout for BC today, typing Sam Apuzzo’s single game record with 9 goals. Belle Smith (3) and Courtney Weeks (2) were the Eagles’ other multi-goal scorers, while Annie Walsh, Caitlynn Mossman, Andrea Reynolds, and Kayla Martello scored 1 goal each.
