The Boston College hockey team went to Albany earlier this week planning to face Notre Dame in the first round of the 2021 NCAA Regionals. But Notre Dame ended up pulling out of the tournament due to positive COVID tests within the program. Because of the late notice of this change, the Eagles earned an automatic pass to the next round. Minnesota Duluth later joined BC in this fate due to their first opponent, Michigan, withdrawing.

The Eagles are now confirmed to be facing Saint Cloud State University in tomorrow’s game, which will be played at 5:30 and will air on ESPN2. The Huskies earned a 6-2 victory over Boston University in a fairly chaotic game to advance.

One thing of note from today’s game is that, as was noted on Twitter by multiple reporters during practices, the ice quality in Albany seems to be ... not great. This adds an extra level of difficulty to what is sure to be a very competitive game tomorrow.
