Matt Boldy & Spencer Knight Named Hobey Baker Top Ten Finalists

Yay!

So... it’s strange that nothing really happened in Hockey East this week, right?

In national college hockey news, the Hobey Baker Memorial Award Committee announced the top ten candidates for the 2021 award earlier this week, and much like the Hockey East yearly awards, BC fans have a lot to celebrate. Both Matt Boldy and Spencer Knight were named to the top ten list, which shouldn’t really come as a surprise.

Knight has a 15-3-1 record this year, helping the Eagles to a 17-5-1 record overall. He led all Hockey East goalies in regular season wins, earning him the conference’s annual Goaltender of the Year and Player of the Year awards. He’s currently sixth in the country with a .933 save percentage, and has made at least 30 saves in 11 of his games this year. Given what we know about Knight, his performance on Tuesday night is an anomaly, and he is more than likely going to bounce back from it during the NCAA tournament.

Boldy leads the Eagles in scoring, with 30 points in 21 games (10g, 20a) and is tied for the team lead in shorthanded goals, having scored three this year. He continued building off a strong end to his freshman year, opening this season in November with eight points in four games before winning gold with Team USA at the World Junior Championship. He’s had eight multipoint games this year, highlighted by a five point effort against UMass-Lowell back in February.

Congrats to both!
