Boston College’s star sophomore forward Alex Newhook has played in just one game this season for the Eagles, but he may be on the verge of a return just as BC enters in to the home stretch of this strange and abbreviated season.

During the press conference after last night’s 6-2 BC win over Northeastern at Matthews Arena, College Hockey News’ Greg Cameron reported the following from Jerry York:

Newhook suffered his shoulder injury after taking a hit during Canada’s game against Sweden on New Year’s Eve at the World Junior Championships.

He returned for Canada’s run to the silver medal, then suited up for BC’s first game of the second semester against UNH - but since that game, he’s been back on the shelf.

Newhook missed the entire first half of the season due to Canada’s bubble procedures preceding the World Junior tournament.

With one month left in the regular season, and BU on the menu for a home-and-home this weekend, this would be a great time for Newhook to come roaring back and inject some additional juice in to the BC lineup.

Stay tuned for more updates.
