Boston College Women’s Lacrosse Defeats #16 USC

The Boston College lacrosse team picked up another decisive victory today, defeating #16 USC by a score of 14-8. Both teams split their scoring evenly between halves, and BC goalie Rachel Hall made some impressive saves throughout to maintain the Eagles lead.

Although USC had a slight edge on draw controls, the Eagles really dominated on ground balls (20 to 13) and shots on goal (22 to 15) in a way that kept the Trojans from being able to mount a serious comeback attempt, despite their best efforts.

The Eagles offense was, as usual, led by Charlotte North (4 goals) and Cara Urbank (3 goals). Urbank picked up her 100th career goal in today’s match, and North did this:

North now has 12 goals in 2 games, and Urbank has 7.

BC’s scoring was rounded out by 2 goals each from Cassidy Weeks and Jenn Medjid, and 1 goal apiece from Annie Walsh, Caitlynn Mossman, and freshman standout Belle Smith. Meanwhile, Annie Walsh, Melanie Welch, Hollie Schleicher, and freshman Hunter Roman were all defensive standouts in today’s game.

This Tuesday the Eagles will play a home game against UMass before closing out the week with their ACC game of the season at recent rival program UNC on Saturday.
