The Boston College women’s basketball team continues to struggle with keeping momentum throughout games, Today, BC blew an early 9 point lead to ultimately fall to Miami by a score of 77-60.

After the Eagles dominated the first quarter, Miami continued to strengthen their play while BC’s accuracy and control began to descend. The Hurricanes made 8 3-pointers, shot 48% overall, and out-rebounded BC 41-30. They were led by redshirt junior Destiny Harden, who just missed out on a double-double with 20 points and 9 rebounds. Taylor Soule was BC’s leader with 15 points and 7 rebounds.

The Eagles had a couple major problems as this game progressed. First, they just couldn’t get the ball in the net. Shots kept bouncing off the rim, and Miami grabbed 26 defensive rebounds off of BC misses. Meanwhile, on the other side of the court, BC let Miami players get away with open 3s and long field goals too many times.

BC has struggled in general this season, but it does seem likely that a lot of these stamina problems we’ve been seeing lately are influenced by the fact that the Eagles have just 8 healthy players and have missed a good chunk of practice time and games due to COVID protocols in 2021. Hopefully when next season rolls around and this team has a full healthy roster, we’ll see a more competitive squad.
