BC men’s hockey season is officially here! The Eagles played an exhibition game last week, but the regular season starts tonight, and we’re closing out our roster countdown with the final Eagle on the roster!

Name: Eamon Powell

Position: Defenseman

Year: Sophomore

Number: #2

Height: 5’11

Hometown: Marcellus, NY

Previous Stats: Powell recorded 14 points in 24 games last season, 12 of which were assists. He also was assessed just 3 penalties.
Prior to BC, he played for the USNTDP for 2 seasons. While with the USNTDP, he also showed his strengths as an offensive defenseman who is particularly skilled at setting up plays for his teammates.

Season Outlook: Defense is a bit of a question for BC this season, as the Eagles have struggled defensively over the past few years. Powell’s ability to set up plays will be valuable as BC looks to replace some top offensive talent, and his tendency to stay out of the penalty box is important for a team that ... isn’t always great at that. However, Powell will really need to focus on making smart plays in his own end and focusing on the defensive aspects of his game if he wants to ensure he’s on the first pairing, as what BC really needs is some defensive defensemen.

Drafted: 116th overall (4th round) by the Tampa Bay Lightning in 2020

Fun Fact: His brother Emmet plays hockey at Wesleyan and his brother Seamus is a member of the USNTDP and has committed to BC for the 2023-24 season.
