HALFTIME: Boston College 3, Syracuse 0

NCAA Football: Boston College at Syracuse Mark Konezny-USA TODAY Sports

It wasn’t exactly a first half for the highlight reel at the Carrier Dome, but Boston College holds a 3-0 lead after 30 minutes of play at Syracuse.

The insertion of true freshman Emmett Morehead at QB in the second quarter was the biggest storyline of the half, and Morehead had a few nice throws, including a deep ball to Zay Flowers that put BC in range for a field goal by Conor Lytton to take the 3-0 lead.

Morehead had some overthrows and misses on his next two possessions and is currently 3-for-7, for 54 yards (most of them on the long ball to Flowers).

Grosel played the first two series and also came in just before halftime after Morehead took a big hit (though seemed to be OK). He is 4-for-7 with 25 yards.

Pat Garwo had a few nice rushes early in the half but ended up with just 28 yards of rushing. Levy carried the load in the second quarter and ha 21 yards of rushing. Not sure if Garwo is hurt or if the plan was for him to not play late in the half.

BC suffered another injury to Tyler Vrabel, who came out of the game after appearing in pain in the second quarter.

On defense, the Eagles made another series of huge plays to prevent Syracuse from scoring despite multiple trips in to BC territory. Marcus Valdez forced a fumble with Cuse driving toward the BC end zone to snuff out Syracuse’s most serious threat and keep the game scoreless at the time.
