SO, WHAT’S THE DEAL WITH NORTHEASTERN:

Last year, the Huskies finished 9-9-3, and crashed out of the Hockey East tournament after falling to UMass in the quarterfinals. This season, Northeastern was picked to finish fourth in the Hockey East preseason coaches poll, one spot behind BC. The Huskies started off the season with back to back shutouts against Bentley and Holy Cross, before falling to Quinnipiac 3-0 in the finale of the Ice Breaker Tournament.

Last season, BC swept Northeastern in two games, beating them 6-2 at Matthews and then 4-2 at Conte. The season before that was the iconic 10-1 game that I will never forget.

KEY BC PLAYER TO WATCH:

I’m going to go with Marshall Warren again, since he’s simply been all over the ice every shift and tallied a goal and assist against Holy Cross. He was also named to the Ice Breaker’s all-tournament team. I can only imagine that he’ll be good against Northeastern too.

PREDICTIONS:

At first, BC vs Northeastern for BC’s Hockey East opener was a little scary to me, but after this weekend I feel slightly more confident about BC’s ability to come away with a W. BC was able to hang with Quinnipiac after Quinnipiac battled back from a 2-0 deficit while Northeastern was handily shut out by them, which makes me believe Northeastern might have a few weaknesses that BC can capitalize on.

Let’s go with 3-2 BC.
