Virginia native Jonas Sanker flipped his commitment from Boston College to the University of Virginia. Sanker, Class of 2021, initially committed to the Eagles in early June. This isn’t exactly unheard of and should not be room for panic. Although Sankerdid not have an offer from UVA at the time of commitment, with the state of the country right now and general uncertainty, the offer may have prompted The Covenant School athlete to choose to stay close to home. Very few of the commits over the past few months during the quarantine off season were able to even visit the campus prior to making their decisions. The race to make sure you have a landing spot hastens the decision-making for these high school students, and so we should keep our eye out for others flips around the country. Hopefully, we do not see any more on the BC side, but again it should not yet be troubling. The move keeps the Eagles at 17 hard commits for the ‘21 Class.
