In the wake of the recent shutdown of the Alabama-Huntsville program, rising sophomore Liam Izyk, a forward out of Blackie, Alberta, announced he was transferring to Boston College Tuesday afternoon.
Thanks to @uahhockey for giving me the opportunity to start my college career. That being said, I’m excited to announce I’ll be continuing my education and hockey at @bchockey #eagles

Izyk was a strong prospect out of the Alberta Junior Hockey League. A four year player with the Fort McMurray Oil Barrons, Izyk served as an alternate captain for the last two years of his career in Alberta.
With Alabama-Huntsville, Izyk registered three goals and eight assists (11 points for those keeping score at home) during his first year.
Izyk’s transfer comes in the midst of a grassroots effort by Alabama-Huntsville alumni and supporters to rescue the Alabama-Huntsville program from financial ruin. Sitting at $115,227 at press time, the page notes that $1,000,000 is needed by Friday, May 29 in order to save the program.
Meanwhile for Izyk, it should be interesting to see where he fits in the lineup for BC.
