It wasn’t a pretty game, but the Boston College men’s hockey team picked up another victory tonight, defeating UNH 2-1 on Senior Night. Prior to the game, BC’s 10 seniors were honored and 9 played in tonight’s game (captain David Cotton was out with either a flu or food poisoning and is doubtful for tomorrow night’s game as well).
Alex Newhook set up Mike Hardman with a great pass just 59 seconds into the game to give the Eagles an early 1-0 lead, and Marshall Warren scored at 5:14 with a shot the snuck past the UNH goalie to put BC up 2-0.
Much of the rest of the game was made up of weird bounces and off the post shots for both teams. UNH ended Spencer Knight’s shutout at 4:02 in the third with a sloppy goal that BC’s defense and Knight just totally missed, but that was it for scoring. Even BC’s best empty net goal opportunity late in the game once the Wildcats had pulled their goalie ended up just bouncing off the crossbar.
The Eagles will head up to Durham for another game with the Wildcats tomorrow night, hopefully to play a tighter game and end the regular season on a win.
