It’s a big weekend coming up for the Hockey East Regular season champions. Even though Boston College is now the regular season champion, there is still the matter of getting the tournament seedings in place and the closure of the conference regular season.
BC’s opponent this week–New Hampshire– has a lot riding on this game. New Hampshire needs a good showing this weekend to have a chance at keeping their season going. As it stands right now New Hampshire is on the outside looking in, two points back from Northeastern, who has a big series this weekend itself with BU. But let’s look at the BC series.
What to Watch For
- Understand what everyone is playing for: New Hampshire is going to be playing for its season this weekend, so it is going to come in with a whole lot of motivation, while BC really only has the pairwise race to keep up with. BC needs to be ready for a big New Hampshire push this weekend.
- Convert on chances: Earlier this year, New Hampshire blanked BC 1-0 despite the Eagles having a number of chances in the game. BC is a different team now, and it needs to show it against a team that is more than capable of giving the Eagles a headache.
- BC is the regular season Hockey East champion: Yeah. It’s lit.

Strawberry Daiquiri
This is not a series by any means that the Eagles should coast in, but it feels really nice to be at the point in the year and playing a game with relatively lower stakes as compared to games at this time of the year the past few years (and yes. Considering the Eagles were in UNH’s position last year when it was playing for its season at this point in the season, this is a lot more low-key). Just play some good hockey, don’t let anyone get hurt, and enjoy the tune-up.
Prediction
Give me a 5-1, 3-1 Eagles sweep.
